上海董家渡天主教堂是当时中国第一座大天主教堂，迄今保存完好。rn教堂正立面为三段式。下段以四对爱奥尼克式柱划成三间--使大门开有三个入口。进门旁的双柱当间有砖砌的中国式对联，外端的两对立柱间则塑有神龛；中段墙面正中嵌入一只圆形大时钟，其上两端各耸立一座钟楼，楼内铜钟据说是一个半世纪前的原物；上段山墙做成具有典型巴洛克气质的卷涡式样，中央辟出一额，直书天主堂三个大字；顶上竖起铁十字架，长近四米，据说有一吨来重。大堂内部采拱顶而非穹顶，辅之以青绿藻井图案构成天花；堂内粗壮的立柱测算来约有四米周长，其中一柱内还有楼梯可上唱经楼。唱经楼是位于进门上的一道夹层，这里遥对远处的祭坛，侧望还可以清楚地看到堂内墙面高处的精美浮雕。作为中西合璧的具体体现，这些浮雕表现了十分中国化的莲、鹤、葫芦、宝剑、双钱等内容。rn 董家渡天主堂在上个世纪曾是天主教江南教区主教座堂。自本世纪初徐家汇天主堂落成后，它的传教中心地位才被取代。rn rnrn |
