灵山大佛坐落于无锡马山秦履峰南侧的小灵山地区，该处原为唐宋名刹祥符寺之旧址，为保存古迹，弘扬文化，落实宗教政策，由修复祥符禅寺建造大佛立像筹建委筹划，在恢复祥符寺的同时，兴建八十八米高的露天青铜释迦牟尼佛立像。大佛所在位置系唐玄奘命名的小灵山，故名灵山大佛。灵山大佛景区位于无锡太湖国家旅游度假区，占地面积约30公顷。从灵山大型果园停车场步行至照壁广场，可见三山环抱，灵山大佛巍然屹立，气势雄伟壮观。大佛南面太湖，背倚灵山，左挽青龙（山），右牵白虎（山），地灵形胜，风水佳绝，为难得之佛国宝地。灵山大照壁长41.6米，高6.63米，正面“灵山胜会”石刻组雕，神仙道伟，千人千面，栩栩如生；背面为“唐僧赐禅小灵山图”。rn 这尊宏伟庄严的大佛是中国佛教界近百年来最大的一件盛事。同时也将成为太湖明珠--无锡的标志之一，对社会文化和经济发展具有重大意义。 |
